Joining the pirates?
I didn’t know Benn Jordan aka Flashbulb until he gained some attention in the web because he uploaded his music to the Oink imitator (if you haven’t heard of Oink yet, you should read this) What.cd by himself. He seems to be outraged about the rip-off-behaviour of iTunes which sells his music without his knowledge and, worst of all, without paying him (as he declared in this interview at TorrentFreak).
Although i’m not fully convinced of his true ambitions and the real importance of the marketing in his move the interview is worth reading as it’s an eclectit discussion about earning money with music. And he describes his pattern of use at Oink in a very familiar way:
“Most of those downloads are actually albums I already own (much easier to download than to record an entire vinyl album), albums I previewed but didn’t like, or albums I simply cannot find available in a suitable DRM-free format (including CD).”
Therefore we’re working on a solution how to provide a legal and free MP3 copy to those vinyl junkies out there who will buy our releases on wax anyway. We hope to get these things working with our next release…
