The Frohlocker have accrued from a periodical club session of the same name, which was brought to life in Kaiserslautern (Germany) in early 2006. By mixing a wide variety of groovy, breaky musical styles, they didn’t take much time to capture a key position among the local party culture. From the outset, the excellent team play behind the turntables has been complemented by intense studio works, which in turn are regularly tested on the dancefloor. Frohlocker’s own produce reflect the wide variety of influences and breach gridlocked genres. Their well reputated remixes for The Juju Orchestra and Dj ClicK and three own maxi releases on Galopp Records brought some attention from all around the globe.
The masterminds behind Frohlocker are Wanja Sälzer and Gabriel Zahn. During the last years Wanja Saelzer gained DJing experience in countless localities, focusing on Broken Beat, Big Beat and Trip-Hop. Now as part of Frohlocker, this pays off especially regarding the question whether a tune works out on the dancefloor. From his early days on, Gabriel Zahn enjoyed a musical breeding and is producing music for more than a decade now. Based on experiences in Trip-Hop, Hip-Hop and film score, as part of Frohlocker he is focusing on dance music in the broader sense.

Dj ClicK
He calls himself a „globetrotter from Paris“ and as a DJ and producer DJ ClicK combines musical traditions from eastern europe with electronic club complexion. With numerous remixes and both his albums Labesse and Flavour he contributed to the fostering and forming of our steadily growing enthusiasm for balkanbreaks. Some day he tracked down the Frohlocker on MySpace, arranged a remix swap and thus contributed to the first Galopp release. A successful collaboration with Rona Hartner for his own label NoFridge is now followed by a cooperation with Leontina Vaduva. That’s where to look out fort he remix by the Frohlocker.

Dusty
In a little while Munich-based Christoph Doepke has managed to establish his label Jazz&Milk as a widely noticed source for jazzy breaks. Under his pseudonym Dusty he himself accounted for the first release and with both his Jazz&Milk Breaks EPs he pulled promising newcomers with excellent tracks into the spotlight. He made Free The Robots accessible to a broader audience in Europe. His qualities as a remixer have not least pleased us. Hi-Fly Orchestra, Analogik and Tom Eno have as well benefited from his first-class treatments.

Dublex Inc.
There’s probably not much left to say about the four guys from Stuttgart. Back in 2000 their club hit Tango Forte brought them remarkable success, followed by the much noticed longplayer Eight Ears, several 12inches and countless remixes. Characteristic for their sound is a fine grasp for the dancefloor. As DJs, Dublex Inc. are tirelessly in transit and their label Pulver Records is an export hit. In other words: a musical track record.

Protassov
Stefan Fuss was the first and even the fastest Remixer on Frohlocker`s Hipbrass Vinyl.The multiple instrumentalist and sound engineer has played at events and festivals all over Europe with the renowned techno live outfit T.E.V.O. in the mid-90s. In his own studio Protassov now produces all kinds of bands, creates remixes and his great Steam&Oil EP is an all time classic of ours, with well picked Remixs by Dr Rubberfunk and Flevans. He just released his first Solo Album, called “Shalina Music”, on his resident label Switchstance Recordings.

Paul SG
It tooks many time to find a DnB remix we wanted. We didn`t had that much knowledge about the scene, so it was by a fluke that we met Paul again.Paul was born in the same small city like W. of the Frohlocker but just moving to Vienna (where else :-)). He had produced quiet a lot of tracks, and placed them on many releases of differnet labels. His talent in liquid DnB productions was even recognized by Ltj Bukem who signed certain tracks of Paul SG for the 46 Fabriclive Compilation, and a whole Album for his Good Looking Record Label! Pepe Le Moko
The Mash Ups of Jazz K.Lippa and Barrio Cats goes along with us since years . In the early Myspace days there were these catchy tracks combined with these nice Guys, releasing on Resense and Planet Blend. After they made that tight remix on Hipbrass with their MC Dreadeye, they will be guests at our Frohlocker Party Serie in Kaiserslautern soon. Under the Name of “Heino Hi-Fi” they will bring even a second Mc with them. Sounds like a big gig and even the people at Fusion Festival were shure about their pumpin set.

Shantisan
Shantisan, we know him since a few years, but we never met. This hopfully will change, because we want to visit him in Vienna doin some Djing. He produced the “Efecto Latino” Track for our Compilation: “Jockey Tunes #1″ together with Roland Schwarz. In fact Herbert Bachhofer released several Tracks on different Labels. His “Bring Back The Bossa Rock” on Resense or “Aquela E Minha Menina” on Sunsetsoul are cool Brazil-DnB Party Banger, we can really recommend. He also appears on S.O.S, and did remixes for Timewarp Inc., Basement Freaks, Just Banks and Quincy Jointz. Besides all this stuff he runs his own Label :”Salted Soul”, which he calls “..a non-purist Afro Grooves, Brazilian Rhythms, Downbeat, House and Drum n Bass mix”. Its really difficult for many Dj`s in our scene to discribe their style easyly, we know very well. So lately we will meet in december, when he will be guest at our Frohlocker party.

Roland Schwarz
Together with Parov Stelar, who he also remixed several times, Roland Schwarz founded the successfull “Etage Noir” label in 2003. In the late 90ies he founded the widely respected club series “one night in the disco”. Beeing able to set new standards for house events in Linz, he introduced guests like Jori Hullkonnen, Dj Deep, Fred Everything, Calum Walker, etc..With his own release “Step In” he showed his highly production skills and we are happy, that he made that fat Track together with Shantisan for our Compilation. Also he did Remixes for R. Dorfmeister/Madrid de los Austrias, Sonoluce, The Dining Rooms, DJ Enne and Valique. looking foward to meet him, not only because he shall be a good Dj, too.

Nemoy
André Seiler aka Nemoy we met at our booking in Brigg/Ch. He was doin the warm up djing for us and so we couldn´t talk that much. What we knew from others was that he is an multi instrumentalist who often plays live and producer of electronic music. Back in germany we had some musical exchanges and so we decided to release his Track “Cheapest trumpet in Town” on Jockey Tunes. Other tracks of Nemoy can be heard of his home label Bonzzaj.

Timewarp Inc.
Timewarp was born and lives in Athen and was introduced to electronic music at age 13 when he acquired an amiga. Being a dj as well as a composer he became famous in the Greek underground electronica scene in the early 90’s. Over the years he appeared in numerous parties and venues and he created one of the first pioneering dance projects in Greece. Timewarp has contributed in many releases of various record labels like: ecco.chamber, SonyBMG, V2, Irma, Waveform etc. and licensed music for commercial motion TV advertising spots. In early 2004 he created the independent record label Timewarp Music which has already released many Cd’s and Digital Ep’s. For live performances he runs his five-member band of musicians. His track “D´azour Cotaz” was released before at Timewarp Label digitally, but in fact, we wanted that good stuff to be on vinyl, too!

Headson Groove
Sotiris Egolfopoulos, a.k.a. Headson Groove has been creating electronic music since 1994. His musical approach combines downtempo grooves, funk, broken beats, electro and house to create his own “freestyle”. As a result of working with electronic instruments and hardware units, he studied Sound Engineering - Music Technology and improved his skills at production techniques. During the last 5 years he has been collaborating with studios as a remixer, mixing engineer and sound designer. From that point forward, the key element of his work has been production. His debut release came with ‘Save your funk’in ears’ by Timewarp Music. He is also an active remixer with remixes on Timewarp inc, Basement Freaks, Geriba. His “Scratch my Oscillator” is a long time favorite of our Dj set and we are happy to have it on vinyl now!
